2019-02 GBA Newsletter

Message From The President

In 2018 our objective was to go wide.   Our goal was to launch 200 chapters in four months.  We missed our goal and, actually launched almost 100 chapters in a year.  In addition, we launched about 50 working groups, several communities of interests, and a suite of five certification courses.  We established four advisory committees and had many other accomplishments under our belt.  We have had impressive growth in scope (geographic and topical), content, and reputation.

If 2018 was characterized by going wide, 2019 will be characterized by going deep.  This year we plan on strengthening our relationships, infrastructure, capabilities, opportunities and value for our members.  We are doing this to create an environment that facilitates the success of our members and creates the connective tissue that support the growth for our community.

Of course, this will require investment and here is our plan to raise the funds needed to support our growth.

  • We are establishing Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) in many of our working groups. Government offices that wish to support Proof-of-Concept (PoC) will be invited to sponsor working group PoCs and the intellectual capital generated by the projects will be shared by the partner organizations.
  • Membership fees are increasing for larger organizations. However, civil servants will still be free, students will still only pay $49, and small corporate memberships will still only be $1,500.  However, individual memberships will go up from $199 to $299 and the top end corporate membership is increasing from $5,000 to $20,000.
  • We will also be hosting more events this year. Our theme for 2019 will be “The Future of Money, Governance & the Law”.  We will also have several coordinated Crypto-Nite events around the world and will use advanced technology to crate an amazing experience that will allow our members to connect, communicate and collaborate.  These events will provide an opportunity for organizations to sponsor events and chapters.

I wanted to share this information with you and hope that you will participate in many of these opportunities to connect with others in this space and forge lasting business relationships.  Also, if you are aware of any public sector organization that would like to sponsor a PoC, please have them fill out the contact form here à www.gbaglobal.org/contact-gba
