Summary of Experience

Oki Mek devised and piloted an innovative solution to one of the biggest weaknesses in the CDM process: securing audit logs before they are processed by security information and event management (SIEM) tools. Mek's leadership in cybersecurity included use of blockchain technology, which established an immutable record of HHS IT environment activities. This verified data is available for analysis/reporting by the existing tools. A proof of concept was conducted. The Audit Logs initiative enables a proactive posture to cybersecurity and it will improve NIST compliance, strengthen data safeguards, provide access to verified log data for auditors and save identity theft protection costs.
